Embryo transfer

The embryos are usually transferred into the maternal uterus between two and five days following oocyte retrieval and fertilization.

A very thin catheter transfers the embryos from the laboratory to the maternal uterus, penetrating the vagina and the cervical canal.

The process of embryo transfer is painless for the majority of women, while some experience mild menstrual- type cramping.

If the procedure is successful, implantation usually takes place 5-6 days after oocyte retrieval.
