Egg donation

Which women need to borrow eggs?

Women who produce eggs of a low quality may use borrowed eggs from an anonymous donor to achieve a pregnancy. This category includes women with ovarian insufficiency due to menopause or women with primary ovarian insufficiency. Likewise, women who have been repeatedly placed on an IVF program with low quality eggs and embryos and have failed to conceive can choose to borrow eggs from a donor, thus greatly increasing the possibility of a successful outcome of their efforts.

Finally, women who run the risk of transmitting hereditary diseases, which cannot be diagnosed via pre-implantation screening, can resort to acquiring eggs through egg donation.

Egg donors

Egg donors are women aged 18-35, as prescribed by Greek law. They have undergone mandatory screening for infectious diseases (HIV 1-2, HBsAg, Anti- HCV, VDRL) and genetic screening for common genetic diseases ( thalassemia, sickle cell anaemia, cystic fibrosis). Additional examinations can be carried out if requested by the egg recipient.
